A variety of universities and organisations offer guidance on the design of an academic conference poster. The suggested methods used to create posters range from the use of set templates through to the use of Powerpoint. Approaches to the design of posters are often determined by a discipline 'style'.
We recognise that our art, design and media students will utilise their creative skills to produce poster designs that reflect their specialism and that they will often explore the very notion of a poster and how it communicates.

This blog provides information relating to the 'Designs on Research' - the dynamic learning and teaching project that unites students and staff across a number of universities in the exploration, dissemination and celebration of student research work. The poster work exhibited within the blog is the work of students from the the Arts University College at Bournemouth, Cardiff Metropolitan University and Coventry University - UK.
Overview
Research networks for postgraduate students are common and provide valuable platforms for students to test and progress their research and to disseminate their research outcomes. A comparable forum for undergraduate art, design and media specialist students appears not to exist. It is recognised that such undergraduate events can provide important opportunities for students to advance their research; to learn with others, to progress their ideas further and to celebrate their final year research.
This project and its annual collaborative symposia aims to help students; to provide an opportunity for students to develop their research work and for students and staff to work collaboratively.

The 'Designs on Research' HEA funded free workshop was hosted at the Arts University College at Bournemouth, Dorset, UK on the 25th June 2012. Information is provided within the blog accordingly.
